The Balikpapan Branch of BPJS Kesehatan has firmly denied narratives widely circulating on social media regarding claims of transportation cost reimbursements for National Health Insurance (JKN) participants. The misleading information claims that personal operational expenses, such as fuel purchases, toll fees, and public transportation fares incurred while seeking medical treatment, can be billed to BPJS Kesehatan.
Head of BPJS Kesehatan Balikpapan Branch, Aidy Ilmi, stated that the news is completely unfounded and a hoax. He stressed that to date, there are no regulations or policies within BPJS Kesehatan that permit the reimbursement of travel or transportation costs for participants undergoing medical treatment.
BPJS Kesehatan urges the public to improve digital literacy and not be easily misled by unverified information. Aidy advised participants to always verify through official channels, such as the Mobile JKN application, the official website, verified social media accounts, or by calling the Care Center at 165 to ensure the validity of any information.
In addition to harming participants, the spread of this hoax is feared to create false expectations regarding the benefit coverage of the JKN Program. By understanding their rights and obligations in accordance with applicable regulations, the public is expected to be wiser in filtering information to avoid falling into public-harming disinformation.
