The community of Nagari Gunung Malintang, Pangkalan Koto Baru District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra, has unanimously declared their rejection of all forms of unauthorized (illegal) mining activities in their area. This joint decision was made through consensus to save the environment and maintain the peace of local residents.
A representative of the traditional leaders from Ninik Mamak 4 Suku and also an administrator of the Kerapatan Adat Nagari (KAN) of Gunung Malintang, H. Candra, SH. Dt. Bandaro, emphasized that this agreement is absolute and final. All levels of society are urged to comply with this decision to close any space for wild mining activities that damage nature.
Meanwhile, the Wali Nagari of Gunung Malintang, Wido Putra, expressed the readiness of the nagari government to closely guard this joint commitment. He asked residents to remain vigilant and immediately report to the authorities if they find any suspicious movements or activities related to illegal mining in their area.
Similar support also came from a member of the Lima Puluh Kota Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from the local area, H. Candra, SH. He urged the public to remain calm, maintain the conduciveness of the area, and not be easily provoked by outside parties trying to carry out these illegal activities.
