The status of Mount Anak Krakatau, located in the waters of the Sunda Strait, has been officially raised to Level III or Alert. This status upgrade was triggered by an escalation in volcanic activity observed since June 10, 2026.
According to reports from the Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post, the volcano has erupted twice. The eruptions were recorded spewing a column of volcanic material 200 meters high above the peak.
Monitoring data also indicates significant seismic activity, consisting of one distant tectonic earthquake and one continuous tremor. This phenomenon is a strong indicator of increasing volcanic pressure beneath the surface.
In response to these conditions, authorities have issued a strict warning to the public, fishermen, and tourists. All parties are strictly prohibited from engaging in activities or approaching the volcanic crater within a safe radius of 3 kilometers to anticipate unexpected potential hazards.
