The Quang Ninh Province Tax Department has officially launched a campaign titled "Tax Identification Number Cleanup - Removing Obstacles in Business". This strategic step was taken in response to the growing number of business entities, ranging from corporations to home industries, that have ceased operations but neglected to complete administrative obligations to close their tax identification numbers (NPWP).
Deputy Head of the Quang Ninh Province Tax Department, Le Thanh Thao, emphasized that this initiative is crucial for minimizing "fictitious" business practices often misused for tax evasion. Through this data cleanup, tax authorities aim to ensure fairness for compliant taxpayers, while increasing information transparency to facilitate the investment climate and business cooperation in the region.
As a long-term target until the end of 2026, the tax authorities aim to comprehensively update taxpayer information data and resolve at least 35 percent of pending tax returns (SPT). In addition, the department will take strict action against entities that cannot be found at their registered addresses but are still conducting invoice transactions, in order to mitigate the risk of state losses early on.
To ensure the effectiveness of this policy, the Quang Ninh Province Tax Department has established a special steering committee working in cooperation with the police and business registration agencies. This cross-sector coordination aims to verify identities, publish non-compliant taxpayers, and provide education regarding administrative obligations to business owners to create an economic ecosystem free from procedural barriers.
