The Bekasi Youth and Student Forum (FORMASI) has urged the Acting (Plt) Regent of Bekasi to immediately take concrete steps regarding the operational polemic of nightlife venues in the region. This urge comes in response to the need for legal certainty so that regional regulations do not become mere formalities.
FORMASI Secretary General, Josua, emphasized that the regional government must choose between two firm options: permanently closing nightlife venues that violate rules, or revising the Regional Regulation (Perda) if there are indeed other policies to be implemented. According to him, unclear operational status only creates the impression of turning a blind eye to rule violations.
Beyond law enforcement, FORMASI also highlighted the urgency of evaluating the contribution of nightlife venues to Regional Original Revenue (PAD). If these businesses do not provide a significant positive impact on the broader public, the regional government is deemed to need a comprehensive review of their benefits and operational permits.
Furthermore, the student organization emphasized the importance of transparency in public policymaking. They demand the government be open with the public regarding the legal status and future management policy direction for nightlife venues.
As an oversight measure, FORMASI is committed to continuing to monitor regional government policies. This is done to ensure that governance in Bekasi Regency remains within legal corridors, transparent, and consistently oriented toward the general public's interest.
