The planned meeting between Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah's camps, which was originally scheduled for July 11, 2026, has been confirmed as cancelled. This step was taken following Ruben Onsu's decision to register a child custody lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court on June 30, 2026.
Ruben Onsu's legal counsel, Minola Sebayang, explained that the cancellation of the meeting was a direct request from Sarwendah's side. According to Minola, Sarwendah's side believes that all discussions regarding the continuation of their marriage and child custody should be resolved through a formal mediation process in court.
Minola admitted that his team was initially confused because the meeting had originally been initiated by Sarwendah's side. Nevertheless, Ruben Onsu's camp stated that they respect the decision and are willing to follow the established legal procedures.
On the same occasion, Minola denied speculation that the lawsuit filed by Ruben seemed rushed. He emphasized that before this case came to public attention, both parties had actually held a series of closed-door meetings through their respective legal representatives.
However, Minola regretted that the previous dialogues did not reach an agreement. Instead, the situation was deemed to have become increasingly murky due to statements in the media that were felt to corner one party, making the legal process through court the path currently chosen to find resolution.
