Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Wibowo, provided strategic directives to all Kakorlantas personnel and regional police Traffic Directors (Dirlantas) across Indonesia. In his statement on Monday (6/7/2026), he emphasized the urgent need for institutional readiness in responding to two major phenomena: the demographic dividend and ongoing technological acceleration.
According to Inspector General Wibowo, advancements in digital technology carry dual implications. On one hand, technology accelerates public service efficiency, but on the other hand, it creates loopholes for the spread of hoaxes and provocative content. This is frequently exploited to shape negative opinions regarding the National Police's image by recycling old, irrelevant information.
Furthermore, Inspector General Wibowo highlighted that traffic quality is a clear reflection of a nation's culture and discipline. Up to now, rule-breaking behavior, such as driving against traffic flow and misuse of sidewalks by motorists, remains a critical concern requiring serious reform.
In facing these challenges, traffic units across all regions are instructed not only to rely on law enforcement, but also to intensify education and humanistic supervision. This integrative approach is deemed crucial to building an orderly traffic culture amidst the increasingly dynamic demands of changing times.
