Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi), Nezar Patria, emphasized that the quality of human resources (HR) is a crucial factor for Indonesia in navigating the rapidly moving dynamics of global technology. According to him, strengthening digital talent is no longer just an option, but a strategic necessity amidst the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) and the transformation of the global digital ecosystem.
In his official statement on Monday (6/7), Nezar highlighted the paradigm shift in international technological competition. Currently, a country's advantage is no longer limited to physical infrastructure aspects alone, but relies heavily on the depth of talent mastery and digital innovation capacity possessed by its HR.
"Digital talent is the decisive factor. With strong human capabilities, we can overcome various infrastructure limitations and significantly increase national competitiveness," Nezar stated.
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister emphasized that the government's future agenda is to encourage domestic digital talent to move beyond the role of technical users. Indonesia is targeted to occupy a strategic position in the digital technology development value chain, avoiding continuous reliance on foreign products or systems.
Nezar asserted that Indonesia's main challenge today is transforming its position from just a market or technology consumer into a key actor in the creation of innovation. This step is seen as an opening path for Indonesia to strengthen its bargaining position in an increasingly competitive global technology supply chain.
