SUMENEP – The initial intention to enjoy stage orchestra entertainment in Angkatan Village, Arjasa District, Sumenep Regency, ended in a serious legal incident. A young man named Beril was reported to have fallen victim to the criminal acts of assault and threats, which occurred on Friday night (3/7/2026).
The issue allegedly stemmed from a trivial dispute between visitors near the entertainment stage. The tension was triggered by accidental bumping into each other amidst the crowd of spectators. A local resident with the initials F allegedly got into an altercation with the victim. The tension did not subside even after the event ended, and it continued all the way to Kolo-Kolo Village while the victim was on his way home.
According to the initial statement from the victim's side, the alleged perpetrator, F, blocked the victim's vehicle on the road. In that situation, the perpetrator allegedly not only carried out verbal intimidation but also threatened the victim using a sharp weapon of the sickle type before ultimately physically assaulting Beril and his companion.
Responding to the violence he experienced, the victim immediately went to the Kangean Sector Police (Polsek Kangean), Sumenep Resort Police (Polres Sumenep), to file an official report. Up to this moment, the police are still investigating the details of the report and gathering statements from several eyewitnesses who were at the scene.
The local police assured that this case is being processed in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Nevertheless, authorities maintain the presumption of innocence for the reported party until strong legal evidence is found through further investigation. As of the publication of this report, there has been no additional official statement from the authorities or response from the reported party.
