Looking ahead to the tight competition of the 2026/2027 season, Persebaya Surabaya has taken a progressive step by adopting cutting-edge sports science technology, namely VALD Performance. This move is part of the club's efforts to build a player physical monitoring system based on objective data, a standard also used by various top-tier clubs in elite European leagues such as the Premier League.

This comprehensive physical mapping process was carried out after the players completed thorough medical check-ups at Mayapada Hospital. Involving the Persebaya Academy coaching team, each data point generated from the VALD Performance device will be converted into quantitative metrics. This data will later serve as a reference for the coaching staff in designing training programs and mitigating the risk of player injuries throughout the season.

Persebaya CEO, Azrul Ananda, emphasized that investing in this infrastructure and technology is a form of management's commitment to creating a sustainable football ecosystem. According to him, the existence of supporting facilities such as modern fitness centers and performance analysis tools is a crucial foundation for the club to achieve consistent performance goals in the long term.

Meanwhile, Persebaya's Chief Medical Officer, dr. Pratama Wicaksana Widjaja, Sp.OT(K), explained that using this technology allows the team to understand each individual's functional profile in detail. The integration of this technology is not just a trend, but a transformation of the club's workflow, shifting from a traditional approach to a more measurable sports science-based methodology.

Persebaya's step aligns with the national football development direction, which is beginning to pay great attention to the optimization of sports science. With a strict monitoring system from end to end, the Bajul Ijo are optimistic that they can deliver a more prime, stable squad performance capable of meeting the demands of the team's playstyle in the upcoming season.
