The General Chairperson of the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (SMSI), Firdaus, led a strategic coordination meeting with central board members and regional representatives in Jakarta on Friday (12/6/2026). This meeting focused on mapping the global political landscape and its impact on the sustainability of the cyber media industry in Indonesia.

During a presentation session utilizing in-depth visual analysis, Firdaus highlighted the urgency for media owners and journalists to understand the connection between geopolitical issues and national policy dynamics. For him, a comprehensive understanding of the situation is crucial so that members of the press do not merely report the news, but are also able to map the direction of change more astutely.

Firdaus emphasized that as a large-scale cyber media organization, SMSI members in various regions are required to have sharp analytical skills. This is to ensure that every news portal under the auspices of SMSI is capable of presenting objective, reliable information and serving as a balancing force amidst the increasingly complex flow of information.

In addition to discussing external challenges, the meeting also served as an internal organizational consolidation. The main focus was to strengthen the role of cyber media in maintaining the quality of democracy through journalism practiced with integrity, independence, and the ability to adapt to rapid information technology transformations.

Through this forum, SMSI is committed to continuously improving the quality of human resources within its member media environments. This step is expected to strengthen the position of regional cyber media so they remain relevant in the national information landscape, while upholding the dignity of the press as a professional pillar of democracy.
