The search operation for two teenagers from Krinjing Village, Watumalang District, Wonosobo Regency, namely Arifin Nurohmat (18) and Yufaidin (15), ended in deep sorrow. Both were found dead in the valley area around Curug Tiga, Mount Bismo, after being reported missing for nearly two weeks since June 30, 2026.
Head of the Wonosobo Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Sumekto Hendro, revealed that the victims were strongly suspected to have died after falling into a ravine reaching a depth of 200 meters. The discovery of the victims' bodies stemmed from the efforts of a volunteer team together with the Wanadri Mountain Climbers and Jungle Explorers Association, who combed the location again even though the official search operation had been closed on Saturday (July 11).
The evacuation process for the two victims' bodies was arduous and challenging due to dense jungle terrain and steep topography. The joint team consisting of BPBD, Basarnas, and local residents had to work extra hard to lift the bodies from the bottom of the ravine to the basecamp on Sunday night (July 12).
According to authorities, the two victims hiked without their parents' permission and only carried very limited supplies. When found, the bodies were already decomposed, indicating that both had died several days earlier.
After being successfully evacuated, the bodies were immediately taken to the hospital for preparation before being handed over to their families at the funeral home for burial. The local government expressed high appreciation to all parties, including volunteers and the Wanadri community, who collaborated in the search efforts until the victims were found.
