The reckless action of a man identified by the initials IS in Surabaya had to end behind bars. He was arrested by the Surabaya Metropolitan Police Narcotics Investigation Unit in front of a convenience store on Jalan Kenjeran, after police followed up on a public report regarding drug trafficking at the location.
Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit at Surabaya Metropolitan Police, Police Lieutenant Colonel Dodi Pratama, explained that the suspect could not deny the charges when officers found evidence in the form of 35 ecstasy pills weighing a total of 14.828 grams. To deceive authorities, the suspect hid the illegal goods inside an empty cigarette pack.
Based on interrogation results, the suspect admitted he had just started operating as a dealer. He bought the ecstasy for IDR 10 million from a drug lord identified as IN, who has now been placed on the Wanted Persons List (DPO). The suspect planned to resell the pills for IDR 300,000 per pill for personal profit.
Police emphasized that the suspect had not yet sold a single pill before being caught. Currently, police are continuing their investigation to hunt down the main drug lord and break the drug trafficking chain in the Surabaya area.
As a preventive measure, police urged the public to always proactively report any suspicious activities related to narcotics. Any information, no matter how small, is considered crucial for authorities in efforts to eradicate drug abuse for public safety and order.
