The prestigious BBM x AIKA Basketball Tournament Season 2 officially opened at the Ahmad Yani Integrated Sports Hall, Pontianak, on Saturday (1/8/2026) evening. The opening ceremony was attended by several key figures, including the Vice Governor of West Kalimantan Krisantus Kurniawan, the Chief of Pontianak City Police Police Grand Commissioner Endang Tri Purwanto, and the Chairman of Perbasi West Kalimantan Prof. Dr. Garuda Wiko.
The tournament is designed as a strategic platform to recruit and nurture young basketball talents in West Kalimantan. Through this competition, it is hoped that a new generation of outstanding athletes will emerge, capable of bringing honor to the region on both national and international stages.
The presence of the Chief of Pontianak City Police at the event reinforces the police force's commitment to supporting positive youth activities. Police Grand Commissioner Endang Tri Purwanto assessed that sports events like this are highly effective in directing teenagers' creative energy into productive avenues while steering them away from juvenile delinquency and negative environmental influences.
