The spirit of sportsmanship enveloped Pekalongan Regency as the Brass Bress Boxing Session II event was successfully held at GSP Resto & Cafe. The tournament, initiated by the Pekalongan Regency Police (Polres Pekalongan) along with the local Pertina (Indonesian Boxing Association), was held as part of the celebrations for the 80th Bhayangkara Day, while also serving as a magnet for martial arts enthusiasts in the region.
A total of 76 boxers from various regions, such as Demak, Semarang, Banjarnegara, and Tegal, took part in the competition. A total of 37 matches were presented, covering various categories ranging from children's classes, male and female boxers, to non-athlete classes. Spectator enthusiasm was high throughout the matches.
The Chairman of the Committee and also the Chairman of Pertina Pekalongan Regency, Anton Purnomo, emphasized that the safety of the athletes is the organizer's top priority. With the support of the Health Department, medical teams were on full alert at ringside to ensure the safety of all participants during the championship.
Echoing this sentiment, the Chairman of KONI (National Sports Committee of Indonesia) Pekalongan Regency, Suryono, viewed the event as a crucial way to channel the energy of the younger generation into more productive endeavors. He hopes that through competitions like this, talented young athletes can be scouted and prepared for prestigious events like the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in the future.
The Pekalongan Police Chief, AKBP Rachmad C. Yusuf, asserted that this initiative is a tangible form of the police's closeness to the community. He hopes that providing a positive sports platform can reduce negative activities among youth. The success of this second session is expected to serve as a stepping stone for the development of boxing tournaments with a wider and more professional scope in Pekalongan Regency in the future.
