The Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polkam) hosted a Coordination Meeting on Mass Media Policy Synergy themed BEJO’S (Responsible, Educational, Honest, Objective, and Healthy Industry) in Surabaya on Wednesday (20/5/2026). This initiative aims to strengthen the national media ecosystem so that it remains resilient amidst the rapidly changing digital communication landscape.
Deputy for Communication and Information Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs, Air Vice Marshal Eko D. Indarto, emphasized that today's media challenges are no longer just editorial competition, but a battle for public attention and perception. According to him, national stability now heavily relies on the nation's ability to protect the information space from threats of hoaxes, disinformation, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based manipulative content.
Echoing this sentiment, Assistant for Government and Public Welfare of the East Java Provincial Secretariat, Imam Hidayat, stated that the role of the media is vital in maintaining regional conduciveness, which serves as the basic foundation for economic development. He highlighted the importance of mass media acting as a calming presence amidst the flood of reactive and often unverified information on social media.
The forum also brought together communication experts, academics, and representatives from government agencies to formulate adaptive policies. Through cross-sector collaboration, the government hopes to foster mass media with integrity that can support national information resilience in pursuit of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
