The Regent of Maros, H.A.S. Chaidir Syam, officially inaugurated the board members of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) of Maros Regency for the 2026–2030 term on Wednesday (22/7/2026). This momentum is expected to be a turning point in strengthening organizational governance and accelerating the development of local athletes to become more competitive in various sporting events.
In his speech, Chaidir Syam extended his congratulations while emphasizing the great responsibility now borne by the new board. He requested that the newly inaugurated board immediately formulate strategic work programs oriented towards continuously improving athlete quality to deliver achievements that make the people of Maros proud.
The Maros Regency Government reaffirmed its commitment to continuously support the local sports climate through active collaboration. Solid synergy between the government, KONI, sports association boards, coaches, and the community is considered the main key to producing outstanding talents capable of bringing honor to the region at national and international levels.
Specifically, the Regent also highlighted the preparations for the 2026 South Sulawesi Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV). He urged all sports disciplines in Maros to finalize athlete readiness through planned training programs, high discipline, and always upholding sportsmanship to achieve maximum results in the prestigious event.
