The creative business world is often seen as a challenging sector, but for designer Adrie Basuki, creativity is precisely the main key to turning waste into valuable commodities. Through the Cuan Iki podcast on Investor Daily TV, Adrie shared his inspiring story of processing textile waste into high-end fashion products that are now sought after by various large corporations.
After deciding to leave a corporate career of 18 years, Adrie innovated by creating the 'marble fabric' technique. This innovation enables the use of leftover fabric to become a material with high aesthetic and economic value. To date, about half of his client base comes from the corporate sector, which appreciates the concept of circular fashion.
More than just pursuing profit, Adrie also dedicates himself to creating a social impact through community empowerment. He initiated the establishment of Kampung Perca in Bogor, which serves as a platform for women—including those previously affected by online loan traps—to develop fabric crafting skills.
Adrie Basuki's steps prove that perseverance and the right vision can turn obstacles into real opportunities. Through the Cuan Iki program, it is hoped that more creative entrepreneurs in Indonesia will be inspired to build businesses that are not only financially profitable, but also provide broad benefits to the surrounding community.
