The government of Karang Balik Ward, together with the Karang Rejo Community Health Center (Puskesmas), is once again strengthening its preventive health service program by offering free medical check-ups for local residents. This mobile outreach program, which is routinely held every month, is targeting residents in the RT 09 area of Karang Balik Ward, Tarakan City.
The Head of the Empowerment Section of Karang Balik Ward, Dr. Rika Yuliani, explained that this initiative is specifically designed to facilitate access to medical services for vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly. By setting up examination posts in the middle of residential areas, residents no longer need to travel far or wait in long queues at the main health center.
This mobile service is scheduled to visit two different neighborhood units (RT) every month. Although centered in a specific RT, Dr. Rika emphasized that the service remains wide open to all members of the community from surrounding neighborhoods who wish to have their health checked.
The presence of this program has successfully boosted residents' enthusiasm to undergo early health screenings. The ward administration hopes that this regular monitoring can continue consistently to maintain public health and prevent potential chronic diseases early on.
