Amid the increasingly complex dynamics of the logistics and ports industry, PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok asserts that corporate success is no longer measured solely by operational performance or profit. Strategic relations with all stakeholders have now become a crucial pillar in maintaining long-term reputation and business sustainability.
This was revealed by the Senior Manager Corporate Secretary of PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok, Fiona Sari Utami, during a recent MAW Talkshow virtual discussion. According to Fiona, stakeholder engagement is not just a complementary program in corporate communications, but an absolute strategy that determines the company's resilience and growth.
Fiona explained that comprehensive stakeholder mapping is highly important to understand the needs of various parties, ranging from customers, regulators, and the media to the community around the port. She also emphasized the concept of "everyone is PR," where every internal element of the company, from operational staff to top management, plays a vital role as an official representation of the institution to avoid information distortion.
In its implementation, PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok actively gathers aspirations through surveys, community dialogues, and Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs. This step aims to ensure that the designed programs, such as improving nutrition and strengthening the local economy, truly address the real needs of the community around the port's operational area.
In addition, relationships with the mass media are built on trust and consistent communication, rather than just transactional relationships during a crisis. To support this, the company has also prepared a structured crisis mitigation system, including regular operational monitoring, spokesperson training, and cross-divisional coordination to secure the corporate reputation in a sustainable manner.
